2024 AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY RACE PROCEDURES
Race Monitor
1. Race-Monitor is NOT official, it is a LUXURY. Restart lineups will be done by the last completed lap.
Transponders:
1. Transponders must be installed on the left rear frame rail 14” to 17” behind the axle before you will be able to practice.
2. Transponders are deemed an item that could be inspected.
3. Transponders not located in the specified position may result in penalties that could result in loss of qualifying position and/or disqualification from the event, and/or loss of points and/or loss of purse.
4. Transponders must be returned to the payoff wind after your event.
RACECEIVERS:
1. ALL drivers MUST use a race-ceiver (one way communication device) to monitor Race Control. We will use the standard default channel of 454.00000.
2. If a team/division utilizes a radio system the spotter will be required to monitor Race Control on either the default channel or the Main racetrack frequency.
3. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE WITH OUT A RACE-CEIVER.
FLAGS
GREEN: Start / restart race.
BLUE W/ YELLOW STRIPE: Pass or move over. This will be displayed to cars that are being lapped.
YELLOW: Caution, pace lap speed, single file, hold position – no passing.
1. NO SCUFFING TIRES while safety crew is on the track
RED: Danger – race will be stopped immediately.
1. On a RED flag, cars must stop as soon and as safely as possible. Any cars not conforming to the red flag are subject to disqualification (DQ). Cars that enter the pits will go to the rear of the field when racing resumes.
BLACK: Exit the track for consultation.
1. If you receive a black flag for any reason, you must slow down and come to the infield immediately, you will be informed over race-monitor for the black flag. There is NO “Three Lap Rule”. Failure to honor the black flag will result in the car no longer being scored and further penalties.
2. If the race has concluded and the driver has not responded to the black flag, the Race Director can impose penalties by removing completed laps from the driver.
WHITE: One lap remaining.
CHECKERED: End of the race.
RACING SURFACE:
3. No one is allowed on the racing surface at any time, for any reason unless that person is directed to go onto the racing surface by a Auburndale Speedway officials. VIOLATION OF THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE INDEFINITE SUSPENSION at the discretion of the track official.
4. In the event of wrecks, NO ONE except authorized safety personnel and AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY Officials are allowed on the track. Let the trained professionals do their job.
DRIVER’S MEETING:
1. A mandatory driver’s meeting will be held each week prior to the actual race. One crew member from each team should attend with the driver.
2. Roll call may be taken. Any driver not present by the roll call may forfeit one lap of qualifying, starting position and/or start at the rear of the field.
3. Missing the driver’s meeting can result in a fine of $50.00 at the discretion of AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY officials. If you feel that you will be unable to make the Drivers Meeting, inform Track Officials immediately.
STARTING FIELD:
1. Unless prior notice is given, a full field will be Twenty-Four(24) cars.
QUALIFYING:
1. Qualifying order will be in reverse order from practice times.
2. If you are out of your qualifying by more than 2 position you will only receive 2 laps of time, unless arrangements are made with the head tech official in charge.
3. Qualifying is 5 laps for Super Late Models, other classes will be 3 laps. Changes will be announced in Drivers meeting.
4. You get one attempt to qualify. Once you enter the track this is your attempt to qualify.
5. No driver and /or car may attempt to qualify more than one (1) car per division in time trials or qualifying races.
6. Should a car spin, no additional attempts will be allowed. The Race Director shall make the final decision.
7. If the time trials are not completed due to weather or other circumstances, the field will be lined up based on points or draw.
8. In the event of duplicate qualifying times, The next fastest lap time will break the tie.
START/FINISH LINE:
1. While the start/finish line is considered to extend the center of the track, during a regular Saturday night event a green flag can only be taken on the track racing surface.
2. Cars entering the racing surface from the pits, as the field takes the green, may be considered to have taken the green flag with the field, provided they leave the pits after all cars on the track have passed.
3. YOU MUST TAKE THE ORIGINAL GREEN FLAG IN THE EVENT TO COMPETE.
RACE DISTANCE/LENGTH:
1. Races will be run the scheduled or advertised number of laps. Cautions will not count unless specified. All races will be run until the leader has completed the advertised distance.
2. The race can be considered officially completed after the halfway mark has been reached by the leader, provided circumstances make it impractical to continue the race within a reasonable period of time after it has been stopped. Races stopped after the halfway point will be considered a full race.
LINE-UPS/STARTING GRID:
1. Auburndale Speedway wants to keep the event moving along throughout the night. All cars must be lined up in their correct position in staging before the white flag is displayed in the race preceding them.
2. The pole sitter will choose their starting position inside/outside at this time. No other cars will move. Any car not in line when the white flag is displayed in the race preceding them will forfeit their starting position and must start in the rear at the discretion of the race director/head official in charge.
START OF RACE:
1. Once the pace laps have begun, the race will officially have started even though distance/time are not yet being measured.
2. Any car entering the pits and reentering the racing surface before the green flag is displayed will be considered as having made a pit stop and must start in the rear.
RACE START PROCEDURE:
1. All starts/restarts will be made double-file.
2. The pole sitter may choose whether he or she starts on the inside or outside during the pace laps.
3. No other cars will move. Each car should stay in line and keep pace with the rest of the field.
4. You MUST maintain a reasonable pace, the race director or head official in charge may come over the radio and direct you to increase/decrease you speed.
5. When the one to go is displayed, the pole sitter should bring the field to the green flag gradually and consistently (no brake checking, etc.). .
6. The competitors will start the race at the cone coming out of turn 4. Repeated unsuccessful attempts by the front row could result in their starting position being relinquished and either or both drivers sent to the rear.
PASSING ON THE INITIAL START:
1. On the initial start/restarts, no car will be permitted to pass to the inside until he or she crosses the start/finish line.
2. A penalty for improperly starting the race may be imposed at the next caution flag in the form of a penalty of 2 spots for each car passed or if there is no caution it will be 1 spot per car passed at payoff.
3. If you have made a pass before reaching the start/finish line and give that position back before the lap in completed, the race director may choose to nullify any penalty.
CAUTION BEFORE ONE (1) LAP COMPLETION/ COMPLETE RESTARTS:
1. In the event of a caution before one lap is completed, there will be a complete restart, everyone will retain their original starting position. EXCEPT for the cars entering the pits.
2. If there is a need for a second complete restart, those cars causing the yellow/red flag will be placed to the rear of the field.
3. Any cars causing the race to be stopped, such as a spin out, shall be considered as involved in an accident.
ALL INVOLVED RULE/TAP OUT RULE.
1. The ALL Involved rule will be in effect, meaning the ORIGINAL contact cars will be charged with the race stoppage and will be sent to the rear for the restart.
2. If you are a lead lap car you will be placed behind the last car on the lead lap. All cars that are deemed to be involved in the caution will be sent to the rear of the field.
3. TAP Out rule, you have 1 lap to tap out to take blame for said occurrence, If you know you got into someone take blame for it. Don’t ruin their night, remember if could be you the next time.
4. Auburndale Speedway will protect the leader of the event, if in the opinion of the head official in charge was intentionally taken out and had no part in the caution(ie: victim and not at fault)
CONE RESTARTS:
1. Stay single file.
2. The CONE will be place on the back straight away.
3. Once you approach the CONE you must Choose your line for the restart.
4. Once you have picked you line you CANNOT change lanes.
5. When the CONE is placed on the back straight away the field will be shown the 1 to go at the Start/Finish Line.
6. Next time by you will be green as long as its safe to restart the event.
7. If you are the caution car or make a pit stop you can not choose, you must start tail of the longest line.
8. If you hit the cone during your choose, you will be sent to the rear of the field.
BLACK FLAG:
1. If you receive a black flag for any reason, you must slow down and come to the infield immediately, you will be informed over race-monitor for the black flag. There is NO “Three Lap Rule”. Failure to honor the black flag will result in the car no longer being scored and further penalties.
2. If the race has concluded and the driver has not responded to the black flag, the Race Director can impose penalties by removing completed laps from the driver.
MAKING UP/LOSING LAPS UNDER CAUTION:
1. Races of 50 laps or more a free pass will be given to the 1st car 1 lap down.
2. No competitor can lose a lap under caution.
3. No racing back to the yellow flag. When the yellow is displayed slow down and hold your position.
4. Once a competitor is 3 laps down he/she will not be allowed to continue in the event
LAP PENALTIES:
1. The Race Director will assess all lap penalties at their discretion.
2. To include but not limited to intentional yellow flags, not staying on racing surface, causing excessive delays, or racing back to the flag once the yellow is displayed, etc.
3. Intentional yellow flags may be imposed a 2 lap penality.
SCORING RE-CHECKS:
1. A request for a scoring re-check will be honored if requested within fifteen minutes of the posted finishing order. The request must be made through the Race Director.
2. After the fifteen minute time period, the finishing order will become official, unless adjustments are necessary based on post-race inspection.
MOVE OVER/PASSING FLAG:
1. Move over at Auburndale Speedway is to the high side
2. You will be given the move over flag twice, if you have not moved out of the way of the leaders the next flag will be a black flag and you must pull to the infield.
ROUGH DRIVING:
1. In the event a driver causes another competitor to spin, AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY Officials do not attempt to regulate intent, only the results and in the opinion of AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY officials, it was anything other than a racing incident, you could be penalized.
2. Normally this means being put to the rear of the field, however, more severe penalties may be levied for repeat offenses or for extreme cases. This judgment call on the part of AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY officials is not subject to appeal.
3. Any driver intentionally hitting another car under caution or after completion of race may be parked immediately, penalized position and/or fined and disqualified.
4. Any driver stopping his car and getting out on the track to confront another driver or official will immediately have their scoring stopped and be ordered to the pits.
COMPLETION OF THE EVENT:
1. For the safety of our competitors, it will be at the discretion of the race director to display the caution if necessary on the white flag lap. At this point the scoring line up (with exception of the cars involved in the caution) will go back to the last completed lap for a green/white/checkered finish.
2. There will be a maximum of 3 attempts at a green/white/checkered to complete the race. In the event that the checkered has been displayed to the leader and a caution would be displayed, the race is over.
3. The officials will attempt to illuminate the yellow caution lights indicating for all competitors to maintain their position and slow to a safe speed to complete the event and their finishing positions will be determined by the last completed lap (with exception of the cars involved in the caution) for those that had not taken the checkered when the caution had been displayed. There will be NO racing back to any flag and a one lap penalty could be issued for this violation.
DRIVER CHANGES:
In order for a driver to receive points and prize money, the driver must start the race. Driver changes will not be permitted from the start of pace laps until after the car completes its first scored lap. All driver changes must be authorized by the Race Director.
SPOTTERS:
ALL Competitors using 2 way communication required to supply a Spotter in radio contact with the driver any time the car is on track. During racing events, Spotters are required to report to the AUBURNDALE SPEEDWAY Spotters Stand (atop the pit grandstands going into Turn 3) before Pace Laps before their event begins. If Officials have to wait for your spotter to start the event, your car will be sent to the back of the field. It is recommended that you supply your spotter with an extra charged battery for your event. Auburndale Speedway recommends that all spotters monitor race control with a scanner or race-monitor channel 454.00000.
PRE-RACE INSPECTION:
All cars must pass pre-race technical inspection or will not be allowed to race.
POST RACE INSPECTION:
1. At the completion of the event the top three(3) drivers will stop on the front straight away for victory lane. The Top five (5) finishers must report to the scale house immediately for post-race inspection.
2. Other cars may be chosen to report to inspection at random at the discretion of the Race Director & Technical Director.
3. Failure to submit to post-race inspection will result in the driver being disqualified and receiving no points and no purse.
4. See head tech inspector for post-race procedures.
PIT SPEED:
Cars entering or leaving pits must maintain a reasonable safe speed in order not to endanger other teams, track officials or spectators. Obvious violations will be penalized, penalties maybe disqualification from the event and/or $100 fine.
The rules/guidelines mentioned above are a basic guideline, in rare occasions penalties or procedure changes may be deemed necessary for a fair completion to the event. Judgement calls or procedural changes are not appealable and are considered final.
