PURE STOCK CLASS RULES – 2024
***no phones or communication devices in car***
Mirrors allowed, absolutely no radios!
If the rules do not say you can do it, then don’t do it! Be sure to check the General Rules. All interpretations of rules by a Speedway Management or Speedway Technical Official are final. UNAWARENESS OR IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE!
CARS:
1. Any American made car with a factory wheelbase of 101 inches minimum – must be within 1-inch tolerance of year, make and model.
2. Wheelbase may not be altered. Body must be stock for the chassis.
3. Maximum allowable difference from side to side is 1 inch .
WEIGHT:
1. Minimum weight of 3,300 pounds, with a maximum of 55% on the left side on leaf spring cars; coil spring cars 58% maximum left side.
2. Weight may be added, or left side percentage changed to any competitor at any time at the discretion of tech in the interest of fair competition!
3. All lead and ballast must be painted white and have car number printed on it. All ballast weights must adhere to ride height rule. Any lost or loose weight will result in disqualification.
4. Two bolts ½” in size per piece of lead over 10 lbs. One ½” bolt in 10 lbs or less.
BODY:
1.Must be stock appearing for year, make, and model. No flaring of bodies and must follow factory contours. No exceptions.
2. Factory roof, hood and trunk lid must be retained. Roof may be gutted! Trunk may be gutted but must retain stock floor pan and firewall. Hood must be sealed to the cowl or windshield.
3. Rear deck must have stock appearing downward slope. maximum spoiler size 60×6 inches with no bracing.
4. Back of car must be closed off from top of frame rails to bottom of deck, and from quarter panel to quarter panel.
5. All holes in the firewall and driver compartment must be covered over for safety.
6. No operational hood scoops or cowl induction.
7. Aluminum hoods are not permitted. Fiberglass hoods are permitted.
8. May replace any corroded metal with sheet or aluminum metal for door skins, fenders,
and quarter panels. Must look like an actual car – no slab sides. Door must round down and mount to the rocker like a factory door. No filler panels. All fabricated quarter panels must mount flush where the sail panel meets the side of the quarter panel with no lip or shelf.
9. May remove rear floor to just behind B post of body, and rear firewall, but must have 22-gauge steel firewall sealed tight separating driver from fuel cell.
10. All cars must have a full, clear Lexan windshield or screen that covers all of the front window. If using a screen, you must have (3) 1/2″ vertical bars in front of the driver!
11. Body must be mounted in stock location on frame – no sliding or shifting. A post mounting in the correct frame hole (both left and right). May remove rubber body mounts.
12. Hood must have a minimum of two (2) pins in front and two (2) pins in back.
13. Trunk lid must have two (2) pins and two (2) hinges, or four (4) pins.
14. Fabricated steel (stock appearing) trunk lid approved. No aluminum truck lids allowed.
15. May run 1-inch rub rail welded against body with capped ends, clean welds, no tire cutters.
16. May run pipe bumpers – maximum of 1-3/4-inch OD x .95-inch wall, square tubing, or stock bumper for car must be mounted in stock location with chain rapped and welded to frame. Minimum bumper height is 17 inches – maximum bumper height is 19 inches. Bumpers must have round corners that turn back into chassis. No open ends must be capped. Bumpers must not be installed farther out than 6 inches from the front frame horns.The bumper must be looped back into frame.
17. All welds must be clean and ground – no tire cutters.
CHASSIS and SUSPENSION:
1.All suspension parts must be stock for the year make and model of the car. A – frame bolts may be changed to camber ADJ. May replace bushings with polyurethane or steel ok. may use factory replacement offset control arm shafts.
2. Coil spring must be a minimum of 8 inches and must be factory diameter and fit in stock location without alteration of bucket. No spring rubbers or Gobblers allowed. No coil bound springs or collapsed springs allowed. All springs must be symmetrical from top-to-bottom.
3. May use an adjustable bucket.
4. Leaf springs, stock multi-leaf only, may be used. May use nonadjustable lowering blocks and multi-hole rear shackles for adjustment. No tapered rear end shims or lowering blocks. Factory pinion angle may not be altered whatsoever.
5. Sway bar must be stock for the specific car. Maximum 1-3/8-inch diameter. No rear sway bars. No aftermarket Howe style sway bars.

7. All front and rear suspension components must remain stock. All suspension parts must match the frame. No alteration of suspension allowed.
8. No bump stops.
9. Stock passenger car spindles and hubs for year, make, and model ONLY.
10. No lightening or grinding of any suspension part allowed.
11. No steering quickeners allowed. Stock steering components include drag link and stock length tie rods. No interchange of uni-body, mid-size metric, and big metric/steering parts.
12. Spindles, rotors, calipers, and bottom A-frames must match chassis being used (ALL must be stock). Steel lower A-frame bushings are allowed. The hole must be in the center of the bushing. Factory replacement steel safety hub may be used. The bolt on the rotor must be factory diameter and thickness. No drilled, slotted, or curve veined rotors. May run a steel safety hub in front.
13. Shock absorbers must be mounted on stock upper and lower mounts. No modifications to shock mounts allowed, and mounts must be in stock locations. No tie rod end, Heim end or aluminum shocks allowed.
14. One (1) shock per wheel – total of four (4) shocks per car. No coil over shocks allowed. One-inch (1”) spacers will be allowed on the left-rear of the car (only). Shocks must be steel body, one (1) piece and non-adjustable. No remote or external canister type of shocks allowed. No aluminum gland nuts or shafts. No Schrader Valve! (PRO SHOCK, AFCO, CARARAS and FACTORY CRIMPED BILSTEINS OKAY) ABSOLUTELY NO ALUMINUM OF ANY KIND ON EXTERIOR OF SHOCK EXCEPT THE APPROVED AK SERIES BILSTIEN FACTORY CRIMPED SHOCK!
15. No bulb tops. May have removable bushing on the shaft end of the body. The Bushing holder/eyelet must be attached to the body. No Schrader or bladder style valves allowed.
16. Must use stock type shock ends top and bottom. Front half of the shocks can be covered.
17. No rebuildable shocks. No adjustable shocks. No aluminum gland nuts or shafts.
18. Any shock body that can be disassembled by removal of an external snap ring or by any means other than cutting it apart will be considered rebuildable and illegal.
19. Steel body shocks must be mounted in stock location. $200.00 claimer for four (4) shocks or $50.00 per shock after a race. Must be on the lead lap. 20.Six-inch (6”) ground clearance minimum frame and body, measured with the driver out of the car.
21. Wheel base +/- ½” side to side difference.
22. No X bracing under/over floor pan. Subframe cars – 1 piece of tubing round or square may be inserted into sub fr4ame up to 10 inches and weld no other supports to those braces. Note: Not a new rule, just being explained better.
CARBURETOR:
1.Built engines may run a stock Holley 4412 2-barrel (500 cfm) only or a 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor.
2. Crate engines must run Quadra-Jet 4-barrel carburetor or 650 Holly (part# 80541-1) only. No modifications can be made except as specified. (If crate motor does not have GM or Ricky Brooks seals, you must run 2 barrel Holley and rules).
3. May remove choke plate and shaft.
4. NO Holley XP 2 Barrels.Must have a choke horn.
5. May change jets and power valves.
6. May use any adapter from carburetor to manifold – maximum thickness 1.625 inches including gaskets.
7. 2 return springs mandatory
8. Billet metering block okay.
INTAKE:
1.Stock OEM cast iron. No porting, polishing or port matching.
2. May use Edelbrock RPM Performer – (General Motors 7101, 7104, 2101, 2701, 3701), (Ford 7121), (Mopar 7176).
3. General Motors 602 aluminum dual-plane intake manifold is also approved.
IGNITION:
1. Any 12-volt battery fired ignition (only).
2. Part # MSD8727 CT Digital Soft-Touch HEI Rev Control Limiter only (must be on the right hand side visible to tech out of reach of the driver).
3. Must be mounted in the driver’s compartment behind the driver’s seat. Must be mounted securely and in a box with a lid.
4. Stock OEM distributor – no high-performance parts. No MSD coils or modules.
ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS:
1.Must be the same manufacturer as the car and mounted in stock position. May use Allstar, Moroso or other stock replacement solid motor mounts. Must be in stock location! Maximum Cubic Inch: Displacement for General Motors – 350 C.I.D. / Ford – 351 C.I.D / Mopar – 360 C.I.D.
2. Stock crankshaft for engine.
3. Maximum over-bore is .060.
4. Crankshaft must be stock production or OEM stock replacement. 48 pounds minimum balancing permitted by drilling holes – no grinding. No knife edge or bullnose cranks permitted. No polishing of crankshaft.
5. Rods must be stock production or OEM stock replacement. OEM length per original engine specifications. No high-performance rods permitted. Grinding on rods permitted for balancing only. No polishing of rods. Rods, bolts, builders’ choice.
6. Pistons must be stock production or OEM stock replacement and must be same configuration as stock cast or forged GM. Must have four (4) eyebrow flat top. No fly cutting. Floating pins may be used.
GENERAL MOTORS (GM) 602 CRATE ENGINE:
1.Must be factory sealed or tech approved only.
2. May run GM 602 sealed crate engines that came from the factory. No modifications of any kind. Crate motors are subject to inspection at any time! Valve springs – Part# PAC1210X are allowed. May shim to get to spring rule.
3. 602 Crate engines must follow the Gm Performance parts Technical Manual. If it is not listed don’t do it unless you have spoken to tech and have your rule book signed and carry with you to tech. A tech bulletin will then follow for all racers to see the clarification or change.
4. 602 is totally by the GM manual, repairs etc. no exceptions

Compression ratio: 9-to-1.
No options allowed.

CYLINDER HEADS:
1.Stock production OEM cast iron cylinder head for engine being used (Open or Closed Chamber Heads Okay Minimum 63CC)
2. No vortec heads allowed.
3. No mix-matching.
4. GM 350 heads on 350 c.i.d. engine – 305 heads on 305 c.i.d. engine no less than 63 cc’s on 350. Maximum compression ratio: 10.5-to-1.
5. Ford 351 heads on 351 c.i.d. engine – 302 heads on 302 c.i.d. engine. Maximum compressions ratio: 10-to-1.
6. Mopar 360 heads on 360 c.i.d. engine – 318 heads on 318 c.i.d. engine: Maximum compression ratio: 10-to-1.
7. No porting or polishing, no gasket matching, no grinding of any kind.
8. May have 3 angle valve jobs, no angle more than 75 degree. May run screw in studs, must be stock size.
9. Guide plates OK.
10. No angle plug heads.
11. Must use stock diameter valve for head used.
12. 1.94 intake, 1.50 exhaust, max valve size. May be stainless steel, neck down valves okay.
13. No hollow stem valves.
14. Valve spring must be stock size and symmetrical from top to bottom (1.270” max diameter). Spring seat valve pressure closed 120lbs. max.
15. No aftermarket heads are allowed.
16. Bronze guides or liners ok.
17. Push rods, builder’s option.
CAMSHAFT:
1.Hydraulic flat tappet cam only.
2. Maximum lift 450 at the valve for GM.
3. Maximum lift 480 at the valve for Ford.
4. Check at push rod or cam lobe times the rocker.
5. Ratio – Rocker must remain stock for engine: General Motors: 1.5 – Ford: 1.6 – Mopar: 1.5.
Misc.:
1.No electric water pumps. Electric fans okay.
2.Water pump, pulleys, valve covers and oil pan builders’ choice.
TRANSMISSION:
1.Stock automatic transmission with all working gears (forward and reverse) and working torque converter.
2. Torque converter must be minimum 10 inches in diameter
3. No lock-up converters. No power-glide transmissions.
4. Must have all stock parts – no lightweight parts.
5. May run 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission with stock clutch and flywheel (L88 flywheel minimum 15 LB) approved. 25 pounds weight penalty.
6. Stock clutch and clutch disk. Stock replacement solid hub clutch disk okay. Clutch material must be full circle, and no paddle type disks. Hydraulic Clutch Pedal Okay.
7. No 5-speed or 6-speed transmissions allowed.
8. Must have a functional shifter – No push – pull rods.
REAR-END:
1.Must be stock for the year, make and model of the car.
2.May be locked.
3.Mini-Spools are approved for use.
4.No lightweight spools or lockers of any type.
5.C-Clip eliminators OK.
6.Aftermarket replacement axle is okay.
BRAKES:
1.All four (4) brakes must always work.
2. Stock pedal and master cylinder.
3. May remove factory proportioning valve.
4. No aftermarket brake bias or shut-off valves.
5. No rear disc brakes. No aluminum drums or aluminum parts allowed anywhere in the brake system.
EXHAUST:
1.Drivers with 2-1/2″ exhaust may have 50lb weight break with stock OEM cast iron manifold (only)
2. Cars may run up to 3” exhaust.
3. Must exit behind the driver.
4. Must be securely fastened under the car.
5. No X pipes – No H pipes.
6. Headers are permitted under chassis, with 3” pipe.
WHEELS and TIRES:
1.Racing wheels 15-inch x 8 inch. May run any combination of 2, 3 or 4-inch offset wheels.
2. One wheel spacer okay. May run an ultra-cool 1/8″ steel thick brake cooling fan. One per wheel.
3. American Racer AR870 tires(only)
4. 4-¾” OR 5 on 5 lug pattern is okay.
FUEL CELL:
1.Mandatory Maximum: 22 gallons.
2. Must be mounted in a steel container – minimum of 22-gauge steel.
3. Must have a 1-1/2 fuel cell loop protecting the cell from being hit by other cars.
4. Fuel cell must have 10 inches of ground clearance.
SAFETY FEATURES and ROLL CAGE:
1.Roll cage must be constructed of (minimum) 1-3/4-inch x .095 wall round steel tubing, with full four (4) post roll cage, minimum of four (4) door bars on driver’s side, and three (3) door bars on passenger’s side.
2. Aluminum racing seat mounted to a roll cage with racing seat belts (See Safety Rules. Recommend driver’s side door bars be plated with 1/16-inch steel plate (11 gauge) or thicker.
3. May mount radiator directly to frame – may use round tubing for protection.
4. Drive shaft loops (2) are Mandatory. They are to be located 12 inches from each u joint. Drive shaft must be painted white with numbers on it
The use of radios is strictly prohibited.
CRATE MOTORS ONLY WITH A COMPETITOR PURCHASE PROGRAM IN PLACE AS FOLLOWS:
1.AS LONG AS YOU HAD A CAR THAT QUALIFIED AND STARTED THE RACE YOU MAY PURCHASE A COMPETITORS MOTOR, YOU MUST HAVE A CLAIM SHEET FILLED OUT AND TURNED IN WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF TECH STARTING AND CASH IN HAND OF THE SERIES TECH OFFICIAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $market value AND YOU WILL RECEIVE THE MOTOR YOU ARE CLAIMING EXACTLY AS IT COMES FROM GENERAL MOTORS, NO ACCESSORIES, CARB ETC. ***OIL PANS WILL STAY ON MOTOR REGARDLESS OF STOCK OR 7 INCH REPLACEMENT***
2. IF THE PERSON YOU ARE CLAIMING REFUSES SALE HE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FOR THE NIGHT WITH ALL LOSS OF POINTS AND MONEYS AND WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE NEXT SERIES RACE
3. IF THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THE SAME PERSON IS CLAIMED AGAIN AND REFUSES SALE, HE WILL BE ON A 5 RACE SUSPENSION.
4. IF THE PERSON GETTING CLAIMED IN TURN WANTS TO SELL HIS ENGINE BUT THEN WANTS TO PURCHASE THE CLAIMEES ENGINE HE CAN DO SO AND HIS COST TO DO SO IS $market value. THEREFORE HE WOULD ONLY ACCEPT $305.00 OF THE MONEY, HE DOESN’T HAVE TO HAVE $market value IN HIS HAND AS HE WASN’T EXPECTING TO HAVE TO DO THIS
5. IF THE CLAIMEE REFUSES TO SELL HIS ENGINE FOR THE $market value ALL TRANSACTIONS ARE OFF AND NOW THE CLAIMEE IS DQED AND IS SUSPENDED FOR 1 RACE ETC ***Official’s reserve the right to make changes to the rulebook throughout the year if deemed necessary and will do so by adding addendums and notifying competitors of any upcoming rule changes ***
